Food for Thought
Dear Friends,
I hope that you had a lovely Thanksgiving surrounded by the people who fill your days with life, laughter, and love. We also hope that you were able to be filled with good food!
At The New Love Center we are gearing up for the winter season and helping families and fellow community members find good, nutritious food.
One of the ways that you can help a neighbor is by donating to the TNLC Christmas Food Drive. We are currently accepting canned food and non-perishable items for Christmas boxes which will be distributed to households in need. Another ways that you can help TNLC prepare is through the gift of time and treasure. We would love to have you lend a hand or offer a gift this Giving Tuesday, which is tomorrow November 29.
Thank you for keeping neighbors and families in our community in your prayers, and helping to be a source of hope this season!
Blessings,
Alice Fox Cline

Volunteer Spotlight
Deb Breining (left) and May Venemon (right) volunteer at the Fresh Food Farmacy. They help with sign-in, scheduling, stocking shelves, and refrigerators. When asked why they like to volunteer here at The New Love Center, their responses were:
May, “Because I’m able to help people, but the star on the top of the tree is working with Ann.”
Deb, “It’s a program I believe in and I enjoy being around people.”
As we approach the end of 2022, it’s a good time to give thanks for all the volunteers like Deb and May who have made the mission of TNLC possible. It is because of our volunteers that thousands of people in our community have been helped. Thank you for being part of the change that you want to see in this world!
Devotion
“The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of deep darkness a light has dawned.” -Isaiah 9:2
We enter the season of Advent. For many of us we might mark this time with an Advent Wreath or we might have an Advent calendar. As we enter this season we enter a time where the days get shorter, the dark seems to come more quickly, and the night seems to last longer.
During this time of shortened days and hurried minds, we are reminded of the prophet Isaiah’s words of hope and promise. A promise that God’s light is upon us, and we’re not left out in the dark and the cold.
This promise can be shared with others, too. Perhaps this Advent season, we can share a bit of God’s light with another, so they too may experience the light and warmth of God’s love.
Almighty God, as we begin this season of Advent help us to remember that in the midst of darkness you bring peace and hope. Make us ready to receive your Son, our Savior. May these Advent days be filled with your light. Amen.
