Food for Thought

Dear Friends,

I remember loving to watch a children’s show sourced by the Lutheran Church in America called “David and Goliath.” David and his dog Goliath shared many experiences. In one episode, Davy learned who a neighbor was. His father had told him that all people are his neighbor. It is Good Neighbor week and balloons are being given out in the park. On his way to get his, Davy encounters a girl crying and he stops to help. Because of this act of kindness, he misses out on his balloon.

It is great to be part of the Love Center composed of people willing to go out of their way to help their neighbor, even when it costs something. Thank you for all that you do to help our neighbors in need!

Blessings,

Board President

Client Spotlight

We are blessed to be able to support those in our community. Below are some words shared with us from our of our clients at Geisinger Muncy.

“Dear Love Center Friends, Gratitude cannot be measured, but if it could be, my gratitude and appreciation would overflow. Thank you for your loving efforts in providing our community with delicious options that fill our needs. I cannot speak for others but, after working about 43 years of my 77 years, I found how quickly life changes, not dreaming I’d be on the receiving end. I always tried to give, not take as my life played out. But, here we are… Again, thank you for all you do. You are appreciated more than words can measure, much love and sincere appreciation.”

Devotion

Song of Solomon 8:6

“Set me as a seal upon your heart as a seal upon your arm, for love is strong as death, jealousy as fierce as the grave, its flashes are flashes of fire, the very flame of the lord”

The footnotes of my bible say, “Love, like death, is persistent, always accomplishing its goal” It’s an incredible comparison, the fact that death can seem suffocating, dark, and overwhelming. For some, death is the end, it has a goal, and it’s imminent. Love is no different, the love of God has a goal, and it is equally as fierce as death, this astounds me, the goal of death is to be the end, and God severs it with his perfect and powerful love, with his own goal and no end, God continually stands against death and profoundly pulls us into his embrace through our humility and our need for a creator and for a God who cares for us.

Through the summer many things are celebrated, no matter what seems imminent, what appears to be in the forefront, God’s love is fierce, the “flame of the Lord ”, and will be seen. Allow God’s Truth and Goodness to be fierce in your life this month, our world is temporary and constantly searching for a love that would require them to surrender and take a hard look at themselves, instead, they feed that God-given desire for love, with fodder that cannot sustain them, let God’s love and truth be your spiritual sustenance in the coming months, preach his truths to your heart and open your life to his perfect love for you.
